Gardaí are continuing to question a man after a car with a child inside was stolen in Limerick yesterday.

The vehicle was parked outside a shop on the Old Cratloe Road when a 32-year-old man approached it, removed two children and sped off with a two-year-old passenger still inside.

The child was left out of the car a mile down the same road before the man crashed the car.

Gardaí say they fired two shots after the driver tried to ram the car at officers who had been issuing verbal warnings to him.
