A man injured in a road crash in Limerick this morning has been transferred to Cork University Hospital with serious head injuries.
The man was travelling in a car with two other men when it left the road in Ballycasey near Kildimo around 3am this morning.
The two other men are being treated for less serious injuries at University Hospital Limerick, Gardaí said.
No other car was involved.
A source said the man who sustained serious head injuries was located outside of the vehicle when emergency services arrived at the scene in the early hours of this morning.
He was initially removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick before been transferred to Cork University Hospital shortly after 9am.
"The scene is being investigated. There are no signs that another car was involved. The car went off the road," said a Garda spokesperson.
"It happened between Kildimo and Clarina near Ballycasey. There were three males on board. The road is closed," the Garda added.
