Limerick City of Culture set to announce new chief

A Limerick academic is set to be confirmed as the new boss of Limerick City of Culture this lunchtime.

Curator and academic Mike Fitzpatrick is expected to be named at a press event in half an hour as the interim manager of the project.

It is believed he will take over both the chief executive and artistic director role following the resignations of Patricia Ryan and Karl Wallace.

In a statement the board says they will announce "a number of measures undertaken in response to recent matters" at a press event in the Clarion hotel.
