There are divisions emerging within Fianna Fáil over who should lead the party to the polls.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said he is not stepping down and will not allow his leadership to be the subject of comment at every parliamentary party meeting.

However, Brian Lenihan's supporters want him to make an early move against the Taoiseach at this evening's parliamentary party meeting.

But others like Micheál Martin and Mary Hanafin have said they will not be the catalyst for a challenge to Mr Cowen.
