Law Reform Commission recommends keeping domestic violence laws
A review by the Law Reform Commission of the current legislation regarding bail and harassment in cases of domestic violence is to recommend that the law is retained.
The report was carried out by the Law Reform Commission and will be published by Judge Rosemary Horgan, the President of the District Court, at the Legal Aid Board in Cork this evening.
It recommends retaining existing rules on bail, including revoking bail, where a person is charged with breaching a domestic violence order.
It also recommends that the current law of harassment is sufficient to deal with stalking in domestic violence cases.
