Today will see staff at Mount Carmel hospital in Dublin deliver the last baby at the facility.

Liquidators were appointed to the private hospital a week ago today, and it will close its doors for good in one week's time.

Twenty-five babies have been born there since then

SIPTU has called on the Government and HSE to help workers who are facing redundancy to find new jobs.

Around 300 people are due to leave the payroll officially today.

Some 572 maternity patients have been affected by the closure.

The remaining maternity hospitals in Dublin have confirmed that they will accept any patients who wish to transfer their care to them.
