The Labour Party has promised to recruit 700 Gardaí each year to return the force to peak strength if it is elected.

The Labour Party has promised to recruit 700 Gardaí each year to return the force to peak strength if it is elected.

The party also want to hire 1,000 civilians to free up officers on desk jobs for front line duty.

They have launched their plans for community policing which includes setting up a serious and organised crime unit this morning.

This unit would focus on organised crime, serious fraud, cyber-crime and suspicious financial transactions.
