Kite surfer located safe and well

A kite surfer was located safe and well after an alert yesterday evening.

A member of the public had contacted the Irish Coast Guard reporting a kite surfer in difficulty off Dollymount Beach in Dublin at around 6pm.

The local Coast Guard helicopter, Howth Coast Guard, Howth Lifeboat and Gardaí were dispatched, searching an area from Sutton to the Wooden Bridge in Dollymount.

The man had managed a long swim back to shore, after his gear had failed.

He did not require medical assistance.
