Kildare murder trial: Victim suffered four gunshot wounds
The trial of a Kildare man accused of murdering a man in Athy has heard his alleged victim suffered four gunshot wounds.
James Lammon of Cardington Way in Athy denies shooting 22-year-old Jason Doogue on August 21st last year.
The State Pathologist Dr. Marie Cassidy began her post mortem on the morning of August 22nd 2015.
She found four gunshot wounds but concluded they may have been caused by just three bullets – two of which were recovered from his body.
She said the bullets caused significant injuries to his vital organs which caused an extensive loss of blood that led to his death.
Previously, the court heard Jason Doogue was shot by a masked gunman who opened fire after cycling up to him as he sat on the wall outside his friend’s house in the Greenhills estate in Athy.
Jimmy Lammon is accused of murdering him following an argument in the town centre earlier that day.
Yesterday, the jurors were shown a handgun and a silver silencer that were found buried in a wooded area behind the 44-year-old’s house.
Mr. Lammon denies the charge.
