Meath fire destroys barn, killing 20 cattle
22/11/2004 - 08:42:18A fire in a barn in east Meath has killed 20 cattle and destroyed up to 500 bales of hay.
The alarm was raised after midnight at Rudder, in Stamullen.
Fire crews from Balbriggan and Ashbourne were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to save the cattle, who are believed to have died mainly from smoke inhalation.
Gardaí believe the blaze was started accidentally.
