Kenny: Resignation does not destabilise government

The Taoiseach is insisting the coalition government has not been destabilised by the resignation of Róisín Shortall.
The former Junior Health Minister, who has been at odds recently with Health Minister James Reilly, stepped down last night.
Enda Kenny, speaking at the National Ploughing Championships, says he regrets and is disappointed by her decision.
However the Taoiseach is rejecting any suggestion of instability between Fine Gael and Labour: “I regret and I’m disappointed that Róisín Shortall has sent me a letter of resignation from her position within the department of health.”
“Clearly this is not the first occasion in any government where ministers have made a choice like this but the challenge for government is set out in our programme for government.”
