Enda Kenny has said the government will work ‘day and night’ to make 2014 better for Ireland.

In his Christmas message the Taoiseach added he is confident that the state of the nation will improve next year.

Kenny acknowledged that this Christmas is a tough time for people who have lost loved ones by either through death or emigration.

Kenny has also promised the nation that he'll keep working to make 2014 a better year for Ireland.
