Kenny: Govt planning for two referendums in 2012

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said, at the moment, there are only plans to put two referendums to the people next year.
However, that could change quickly in the new year if the Attorney General says a referendum is needed on the European Intergovernmental Agreement to combat the eurozone debt crisis.
The Taoiseach has said for now, he is only planning to ask the people to decide whether to change the constitution on two issues.
Mr Kenny said: "We are committed to two next year. One is the referendum on childrens' rights on which the Attorney General is working on the wording of that at the moment.
"The other is in respect of the Seanad. We have to consult with opposition leaders in due course about both of these. I can't give you a time scale as to when they will be held."
