Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane and his LA Galaxy teammates were on hand to visit sick children at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin today.

Keane and the LA Galaxy also presented a $50,000 cheque to CMRF Crumlin on behalf of the LA Galaxy Foundation and LA Galaxy official nutrition sponsor, Herbalife.

The donation will go towards funding a number of urgent projects at the hospital as well as funding crucial paediatric research at the National Children’s Research Centre for whom CMRF Crumlin also raises funds for.

"It’s terrific to come here today and make this donation with my teammates on behalf of the LA Galaxy Foundation and our sponsors Herbalife," said Keane.

"My family is from Crumlin, and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital is a very special place for me so it is wonderful to be involved.

"I’m also delighted to lend my support to CMRF Crumlin’s ‘Give It Up’ campaign, a really super idea and I would encourage people to visit the website at www.giveitup.ie and make a donation.

LA Galaxy President Chris Klein said: "The LA Galaxy Foundation’s commitment to youth extends outside of Los Angeles to different communities around the world, especially where both our players and staff come from.

"We are proud to partner with Herbalife to contribute to the efforts of a hospital that is near to Robbie’s heart.

"We’re extremely honored for the opportunity to visit Ireland and our friends at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and want to express our gratitude for the welcome we have received."

Joe Quinsey, CEO OF CMRF Crumlin also commented: "Today is another outstanding day for CMRF Crumlin and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital and we offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the LA Galaxy Foundation and Herbalife for this significant donation.

"The exceptional level of work the hospital undertakes needs consistent and strong financial support and this act of generosity is crucial in that regard.

"It’s also great to see Robbie here today whom we are very proud of as an ambassador for CMRF Crumlin."
