Judge called on to clarify remark that Muslims 'feel they can beat their wives'
A judge is being called on to clarify or withdraw a remark in which he said that he thinks Muslims feel they can "actually beat their wives".
The comment was made by Judge Anthony Halpin in Tallaght District court in Dublin yesterday.
It happened during the trial of a Somali man accused of burgling his former wife's home.
The Immigrant Council of Ireland has called on the judge to clarify or withdraw his comments.
Judge Halpin previously suggested the Civil Defence should be drafted in to help Gardaí keep the peace in Tallaght.
