Jobseekers urged not to fear taking seasonal work

Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs Dinny McGinley has said nobody should turn down the opportunity of a festive job if they're worried about losing their jobseekers' allowance.

McGinley added arrangements will be made to allow jobseekers to go back on the dole almost immediately after the job finishes.

It has been claimed that some people might turn down Christmas work because they are worried that it would take too long to sign on again.

Minister McGinley noted that the social welfare service can make special arrangements for someone taking up short term work.
