Up to 500 jobs are under threat this morning following a major overnight fire at a petfood factory in Co Longford.

Up to 500 jobs are under threat this morning following a major overnight fire at a petfood factory in Co Longford.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze, which caused widespread damage to the C&D Petfoods plant in Edgeworthstown.

The fire broke out at around 11.30pm and completely gutted the production facility, but nobody was injured.

Around 500 people are employed at the factory.
