Jill Meagher's murderer handed new date for parole eligibility

The man who raped and murdered Irishwoman Jill Meagher in Australia in 2012 will not be released from prison until he is at least 86 years old.

Adrian Ernest Bayley has been sentenced today for three violent and 'chilling' attacks on women between 2000 and 2012.

Melbourne County Court Judge Sue Pullen set a new non-parole period of 43 years - meaning he will not be eligible until at least 2058.

She said Bayley had shown no remorse and added there was little to suggest he would ever be rehabilitated.
