A Cabra man who accidentally shot himself in a botched hit that left his victim in a coma has been jailed for eight years.

A Cabra man who accidentally shot himself in a botched hit that left his victim in a coma has been jailed for eight years.

Thomas Ryan of McKee Park pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Charlie O'Neill at Glasnevin Avenue last August.

The 31-year-old shot himself in the leg while pulling a shotgun from his trousers after cycling up beside his target near a bus stop during the morning rush hour.
