Israel navy to stop Gaza-bound Irish ship

The Israeli navy has said it is ready to stop an Irish ship that is bound for Gaza.

The MV Rachel Corrie was delayed leaving Cyprus on Sunday, which meant it became separated from the aid flotilla which was seized in a violent confrontation by Israel yesterday.

Israel's army radio has said the military is expecting an easy takeover of the ship.

Meanwhile, the UN security Council is calling for a prompt, impartial and transparent investigation of the flotilla incident in Gaza

Its after Israeli Commandos stormed an aid ship heading to Gaza killing at least nine people.

There was widespread condemnation of the assault from countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Seven out ot 12 Irish nationals involved in the humanitarian aid mission, continue to be detained by Israeli forces.

However, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country has the right to defend itself against a constant threat.
