ISPCC director puts faith in Fitzgerald to bring Children's Referendum23/04/2012 - 13:25:58
ISPCC director of services Caroline O'Sullivan said today that she is confident that the Children's Rights Referendum will take place before the end of this year.
However Ms O'Sullivan said that although she knows the Children's Minister Frances Fitzgerald is working hard to see it happen, she is not fully convinced that the Government in general is taking the issue seriously.
She said that she is confident that Minister Fitzgerald will ensure that a referendum will take place this year.
"I believe that she will make this happen," said Ms O'Sullivan.
"I think her force behind it, her belief behind it, her belief in children’s rights, and I think it all stems back to her background of working with children in families and knowing the reality for children in families.
"I think she will make this happen, and it will happen, this year."
