Irishman killed in New Zealand skydiving crash
04/09/2010 - 10:33:03The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of a 26-year-old Irishman who was killed in a New Zealand plane crash.
It is understood that Patrick Byrne from Gorey in Wexford recently arrived in the country on a working visa and was among a skydiving party.
Nine people, including the pilot, were killed when the light aircraft crashed at 1.30pm local time at Fox Glacier on the South Island.
Senior Sergeant Allyson Elam of the Greymouth Police Department said two separate investigations were being carried out, by the Civil Aviation Authority and local police.
