Irish Water texting customers about overdue bills

Irish Water has confirmed that it is using text messages to contact customers who have not paid their bills.

It comes over a week since the utility confirmed it was getting in touch with some of those registered on their system by phone.

The company said that depending on the contact information they have, some people "will get a phone call, some will get a text and some will get a letter reminding them that their account is overdue".
