Irish tops for breaking New Year’s resolutions

Irish people have topped the pole for making and breaking New Year's resolutions.

Compared to our European neighbours, Ireland is a nation brimming with good intentions but lacking the willpower to stick to those intentions.

According to a survey of seven European countries, our number one resolution is to improve our fitness and eating habits.

Almost a quarter of those questioned in Ireland admitted that they will only stick to their diets for about a month because of peer pressure and lack of support.

The average European though will manage to stick to their resolutions for about a year.

But only 5% of Irish people will keep their promises for a year compared to 25% of Germans and 24% of Belgians.
