Irish Thalidomide Association reiterates call for compensation08/09/2012 - 14:37:26
The Irish Thalidomide Association are again calling on the Government to deliver on their promises for compensation for victims of the drug.
Members of the group are in Dublin today in a bid to highlight their plea.
They are accusing Enda Kenny and his Cabinet of reneging on their promise to engage with the victims of the drug as was outlined in the Programme for Government.
The association members claim their treatment by the Taoiseach and the Minister for Health and Children has been "insulting" and "lacking in sincerity".
Thalidomide was taken by pregnant woman in the 1950s and 60s to combat morning sickness, but left thousands of babies born with missing or deformed limbs.
