Today is International Level Crossing Awareness Day, and Irish Rail has said there has been worrying rise in dangerous incidents this year.

Today is International Level Crossing Awareness Day, and Irish Rail has said there has been worrying rise in dangerous incidents this year.

So far this year there have been 20 incidents at level crossings connected with motorists and there were three where pedestrians were involved.

That figure is more than double the rate for all of 2014.
