Irish Rail strike talks set to resume later today
Talks to avert a strike at Irish Rail will resume this afternoon.
Management and unions held negotiations through the night in a bid to reach an agreement before a planned stoppage this Friday.
Train drivers plan to stop work on all services during rush hour on Friday morning, between 6am and 9am, in a row centred past productivity.
Officials from Irish Rail, the National Bus and Railworkers Union and SIPTU convened talks at the Workplace Relations Commission yesterday afternoon as part of a last minute attempt to avoid the action.
Those talks adjourned just before 5am this morning and will resume at 2pm this afternoon.
On the way into the talks both sides said they were hopeful that a deal could be reached.
Drivers also plan to down tools in a second day of action on November 6.
