Irish Rail prices go up, Dublin Bus fares set to rise

Rail fares are set to increase from today while Dublin Bus is to raise its prices this month.

Irish Rail has announced a restructuring of fares that will see 143 fares increase on Intercity journeys.

However, 66 fare bands will decrease in price and 15 will remain unchanged.

Irish Rail spokesman Barry Kenny says the changes needed to happen.

Meanwhile, Dublin Bus has announced it will be increasing the price of its pre-paid tickets from later this month.

The cost will go up by an average of more than 4% from February 19.

However, the biggest hike will be on the 'Travel 90' or 10-journey adult travel card, which will increase by 13.2%, jumping from €19 to €21.50.
