Irish Medical Organisation issues warning on €70m cuts


The Irish Medical Organisation is seeking an urgent meeting with Health minister James Reilly over proposed health cuts of €70m.

The IMO's GP committee has warned the cuts will decimate the capacity of general practice.

It claims there will be reduced access to services available locally, and an increased referral to hospital by ambulance.

The committee also expressed concern over the increasing workload and consequent stress levels on an ageing GP workforce.
