Irish animation company celebrates premiere on BBC

An Irish animation company is celebrating this week as it looks forward to its cartoon's premiere on the BBC today.
'Tilly and Friends', which is aimed at 3-5 year-olds, is made by Dublin firm Jam media,
The company, which employs 56 full time staff, won Producer of the Year at the Cartoon Tribute Awards last weekend, beating off competition from 30 other countries.
John Rice, CEO Jam Media, said: “What an exciting week for us! We are hugely honoured to receive an award of this calibre and extremely excited to see our creation ‘Tilly and Friends’ make its debut on Cbeebies on BBC, today.
“It’s testament to the talent that a small country like Ireland can produce, there are over 30 countries participating in this three day event which represents massive competition and it makes us extremely proud that we have been selected to receive this Award.”
The series is based on the children’s books series by author/illustrator Polly Dunbar and follows the everyday adventures of Tilly and her five animal friends.
Jam Media have spent the past 18 months producing the preschool series which was commissioned by the BBC and co-produced with Walker Books.
