Ireland's 'superb' aviation record 'recognised across the world', says Donohoe
Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe says Irish aviation regulators are "superb" in their safety records.
Irish investigators are taking part in the probe into what brought down a Russian airline in Egypt on Saturday - killing all 224 people on board.
The airline is insisting the crash could only have been the result of an "external impact" and not a technical or human error.
The Metrojet aircraft, which is registered in Ireland, underwent a check by the regulator here earlier this year.
Minister Paschal Donohoe says our record in this area is excellent.
"The Irish Aviation Authority are superb in all of the work that they do in relation to dealing with safety and the regulation of aircraft that are registered here in Ireland" he said.
"The safety record that they have is recognised across the world - and they will now be participating along with the Egyptian authorities and the French authorities in the investigation."
