Ireland to contribute €35m more to EU budget
Ireland will have to contribute around €35m extra to the EU this year after MEPs approved an extra Budget.
The European Parliament has approved €2.7bn in extra funding for the EU's central administration.
The Budget was rushed through this week after fears emerged that the European Commission would run out of money to pay its bills by next month.
Each of the 28 member states will now have to make an extra contribution towards the costs of running the EU.
