Investigation launched into woman's death on Stradbally Mountain

A post mortem is expected to be carried out later following the death of a hill walker on a Kerry mountain yesterday.

The woman who was in her 40's was out with a group of about 30 hillwalkers when she slipped and fell on Stradbally Mountain near Anascaul on Sunday afternoon.

Bad weather hampered efforts to locate her body and she was recovered by Kerry Mountain Rescue and Dingle coast guard shortly before 7pm last night.

An investigation has been launched into her death.
