Investigation launched after man, believed to be a former garda, found dead in Cavan
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in Co Cavan.
It is understood the man - thought to be in his mid 40s - was a former garda.
The alarm was raised shortly after midday today when gardaí were called to a house in a village close to Bailieborough in Co Cavan.
On arrival they found the body of a man who was believed to have been shot in the head.
It is understood that the man - aged in his 40s - was a former garda.
The scene of the incident has been sealed off to facilitate a forensic examination while the services of the office of the State Pathologist have also been requested.
