The President of the INTO says his union may embark on industrial action if the government introduces pay cuts to the public sector, as the Croke Park 2 deal looks set to be formally rejected today.
The public services committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions meets to vote on the deal, after SIPTU's decision to reject the agreement yesterday killed off any prospect of it being accepted by the union umbrella body.
The government must now decide whether or not to legislate for paycuts to make the €300m savings earmarked for this year.
Brendan O'Sullivan, president of the Irish National Teacher's Organisation, says the union's members have given them a clear mandate - no more cuts.
"We have a number of options. We have to sit down and meet our own executive and sketch out what our response is.
"I wouldn't rule out anything down the line. Our members have given us a very clear mandate, they have just said no."
