International Space Station to grace Irish skies for 17 nights

The spectacular sight of the International Space Station blazing across Irish skies will be visible from tonight until October 27.

The best time to watch it tonight is at 8.11pm, when it will outshine the brightest star in the sky.

The station has six astronauts on board, five men and one woman.

David Moore of Astronomy Ireland said it is visible to the naked eye.

He said: "You don't need binoculars or telescopes. If you can see one star, the space station can outshine it by a factor of 10 and sometimes a factor of 100 when the sunlight catches the solar panels just right."
