The inquest into the death of Sunday World journalist Martin O'Hagan is due to get underway in Armagh this morning.

The 51-year-old was shot dead by loyalist paramilitaries near his home in Lurgan five years ago while walking home with his wife.

The hardline Loyalist Volunteer Force was blamed for the September 2001 killing.

Mr O'Hagan had written extensively about LVF activities.

Nobody has ever been charged with the murder and the North's Police Ombudsman has been asked to investigate the police inquiry.

The National Union of Journalists, meanwhile, has said it is concerned about reports that the gunmen were police informers and are being protected to prevent them from exposing details of collusion.
