A burglary-related offence is committed every 20 minutes on average in Ireland.
Domestic burglaries make up the vast majority of incidents, and Ireland has seen an increase in the number of these since 2003, when 16,436 were recorded, compared to 27,837 last year.
On a European level, the top 10 countries in terms of numbers of burglaries have all seen increases in the past 10 years, except for France and England&Wales, which have seen significant decreases.
