Independent TD calls for new Government

The Independent TD Noel Grealish has said it is time for a General Election and a new Government.

The Independent TD Noel Grealish has said it is time for a General Election and a new Government.

It represents a step further for Deputy Grealish who has been threatening to withdraw his support for the Government over proposed health cuts.

The former Progressive Democrat has told the Connacht Tribune Newspaper that the amount of money being pumped into Anglo Irish Bank is intolerable when the health system is on its knees.

For weeks the Galway West TD has been threatening to withdraw his support from Government over proposed health cuts in the HSE West Region.

But his assertion now that there should be a General Election and a new Government is taking the issue a step further.

A meeting is taking place today about the Western region health cuts, the outcome of which could decide Mr Grealish's support.
