Immigrant Council reports huge rise in racist incidents

There has been a massive rise in the number of racist incidents reported since the start of the year, according to the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

The Council said there were 20 reports in the first 20 days of January, compared to one report during the same time in 2013.

The racist incidents included attacks on family homes as well as verbal abuse, grafitti and threats of physical violence.

Denise Charlton from the Immigrant Council says many racist incidents are never reported, and this should be addressed.
