Immigrant Council of Ireland launches campaign to help migrants integrate

A new campaign is being launched to help migrants integrate into the community.

The Immigrant Council of Ireland and the Irish Immigrant Support Centre are organising a number of one-stop-shops across the country to encourage their participation in civic and political events.

They will take place in Dublin, Dundalk, Navan, Newbridge, Carlow, Limerick, Kerry and Cork.

Joe O'Brien, from the Immigrant Council of Ireland, said: "We're particularly interested in those who have been here for quite a while now - and we have migrant communities who have been here for five, 10, 15 years now.

"And a lot of them, while they are integrating in some ways in terms of workforce, housing and education and so on, the really important markers of integration point at things in terms of community involvement, participation in elections, and where possible, people applying for and being granted citizenship as well."
