IED made safe in Dublin16/08/2012 - 14:50:13
An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in Kilbarrack Co. Dublin this afternoon.
The Defence Forces were deployed to Coláiste Dhulaigh, Kilbarrack in Dublin 5 following a request from the Gardai.
The area had been cordoned by the Gardai and local residents were evacuated to a safe location.
The team arrived on scene at 11.40am and examined the device which was found on the grounds of Coláiste Dhulaigh.
The device was made safe in situ and transported to a secure military location for further examination where it was declared a viable IED.
The scene was declared safe at 12.30 pm.
This is the 128th callout and 62th viable IED made safe by the Army Bomb Disposal Teams so far this year.
