Iarnród Éireann: New tracks will alleviate congestion
09/01/2007 - 10:40:08Iarnród Éireann has insisted that congestion problems on train routes will improve over the next few years.
Reports this morning claim some train journeys are taking longer now than they were 20 years ago due to gridlock on the tracks.
The problem is particularly bad in Dublin, where trains often have to queue to get in and out of the city.
Iarnród Éireann says this is due to increases in the number of trains and services, but investment in new tracks should alleviate the congestion in the years ahead.
