Hundreds stage anti-water charge protests in Clare and Cork

Around 1,700 people have taken part in anti-water charges demonstrations in Co Clare and Cork city.

Crowds gathered in Ennis Town Centre this afternoon to voice their anger about the establishment of Irish Water.

Organisers claim the charges are a step too far for many people who will be unable to pay.

In Cork city, around 1,000 people marched through the city where residents have been issued with 'boil water' notices in the past, highlighting their opposition to the charges.

Last week, tens of thousands took part in a similar protest in Dublin.
