Hundreds complete Liffey Swim

Ger Wilkes from Malahide in Dublin has won this year's Liffey Swim.

Rachel Lee, a paramedic with the Dublin Fire Brigade, came first in the women's race.

In total, 257 men and 111 women took part in the 95th annual Liffey Swim today.

Entrants must be a member of a swimming club to undertake the 2.2 km swim through Dublin's city centre. The course begins at the Watling Street Bridge near the Guinness Brewery and finishes at Custom House Quay.

The event is based on the Jack B Yeats painting of the same name and was first started in 1920.
