Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of the Wicklow mountaineer, Ian McKeever.

Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of the Wicklow mountaineer, Ian McKeever.

The 42-year-old died on Mount Kilimanjaro last week after he was struck by lightning during a storm.

Mr McKeever's parents and fiancée were among the mourners at the mass in St. Laurence O'Toole Church in Roundwood, Co. Wicklow.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny was represented by his Aide de Camp.

In his homily, Fr Liam Belton described Ian as a man who never shied away from a challenge.
