HSE says it will provide vaccination if GPs won't

The HSE is assuring people that it will roll out the swine flu vaccination itself - if talks with GPs are unsuccessful.

It is to meet with the Irish Medical Organisation next week after the IMO accused the HSE of failing to engage with it and discuss legal and insurance issues surrounding the immunisation programme.

It said it was "regrettable" there was little contact between the HSE and doctors before they received letters asking them to participate in the vaccination.

The HSE's Dr Kevin Kelleher said he is hopeful that the talks will be positive but said the HSE will roll out the vaccine if there is no agreement with doctors.
