HSE go to Labour Court over consultants deal

The HSE is to go to the Labour Court after the apparent collapse of a deal on work changes for hospital consultants.
It follows a meeting between health service management and consultant groups the IMO and IHCA yesterday on how to progress the agreement reached at the Labour Relations Commission last month.
The talks broke up without agreement, even though the changes are due to take effect on November 5.
National Director of Human Resources at the HSE Barry O'Brien denied management jumped the gun in announcing this deal was done.
"Far from being premature, we made it very clear, and the LRC formally recorded it, that they were going to consult immediately with their members.
"This formed the basis of an agreement. What happens next is that we will be seeking the intervention of the Labour Court for an immediate hearing which will be binding on all the parties."
