The Health Service Executive is considering axing overtime in a bid to save €25m.

The HSE will look at offering unpaid leave and increasing the working hours of staff instead of offering the extra payment.

The Irish Examiner reports that the organisation is considering flat-rate payments for overtime between now and 2012, increased working hours and reduced sick leave.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation said it had not been consulted on the matter but that such changes to working conditions would breach the Croke Park Agreement.
