A woman who was confronted at knife-point and bundled into her own car, which was then driven away at high speed before crashing in Roscommon, has been discharged from Mullingar hospital.

A woman who was confronted at knife-point and bundled into her own car, which was then driven away at high speed before crashing in Roscommon, has been discharged from Mullingar hospital.

A man in his 20s is still being questioned at Longford Garda Station in connection with the alleged assault in Longford town on Wednesday.

One man was injured while trying to flee the scene. He remains in a serious condition in Tullamore Hospital.

The other man was arrested by gardaí a short time later.
